What: Mt. Yongmasan (용 마 산) and Yongma Waterfall Park
Where: Seoul, South Korea
Elevation: Yongmasan Mountain (용 마 산) is 348m at the peak
Get There: Yongmasan stop from Subway Line 7, take Exit 2. This is on Seoul’s east side near Gwangjin-gu, just north of the Hangang River. The Yongma Waterfall Park is just a few short steps away after exiting the subway, hiking trails are easy to find. It’s also possible to hike Mt. Achasan from Achasan stop on Subway Line 5 as the trails between these two mountains are connected.
Final Thoughts: Being mid-April, we learned to layer up because weather can change within seconds. It went from 55 deg F and sunny to about 35 deg F with 30+ mph winds. This is a shorter hike but one easily accessible from Seoul’s great subway system. Highly recommended if you have approximately 2-3 hours to spend climbing a few hundred stairs to grab a great view of Seoul. There’s even a workout facility (20’x20′ tent) half-way up the mountain where you can do some circuit training on weight machines if you’re so inclined to do so! At just 348m high, this is an easier climb that allows just about anyone to conquer the summit.
